Bullying has become such a dominant issue in school systems today. It has propelled to the forefront of social issues taking place in the school system, especially in Jr. High. R5 strives to altar that.
Bullying takes place in so many forms, but perhaps the most predominant being through words and labels. Whether it be over the internet through cyber-bullying, or in the hallways and classrooms, words are emotional daggers at this age. R5 shows the effects of these words in real-life situations, and brings to the forefront the realization that words don’t just disappear.
Our Jr. High anti-bullying program will paint a clear picture of what bullying really is, and what bullying really does. We do this through student interaction, video, and real-life stories. Our theme this year is to “walk a mile” in someone’s shoes. Through this theme, R5 will leave your student body not just educated, but equipped to tackle the obstacle of navigating Jr. High.
“I have been the assistant principal at Lycoming Valley for eight years and during those eight years, I have never experienced a guest speaker break down walls like you did. There were students who apologized to students for harassing and belittling them from whom I thought I would never see the slightest feelings of remorse or regret.”
