rose flack

Rose Flack was a contestant on American Idol in January of 2009. Her powerful story will keep you on the edge your seat. Rose's parents both passed away before her 16th birthday. She went through a few years when she used drugs and alcohol as a way to "medicate" her emotional pain. Rose shares about the struggle she faces trying to focus on her dream while making the right choices to walk away from distractions like drug and alcohol abuse. And, of course, her sharing would not be complete without performing a song to inspire your students.

"Rose made you want to take a look at your life and change things because it was like if she can do it, then maybe I can to." - Sophomore girl, Malta Mt.

"help rose bloom" campaign

In November of 2007, I spoke to Lakeview High School in Rathdrum Idaho. When we were done, a young lady approached me and said that she wanted to do what I did. She wanted to travel around the country and tell people her story and give them hope. “You gave me the inspiration to go after my dreams,” she said. “I sing, and my dream is to go on American Idol and get famous.” She honestly said that she was still struggling with drug use, but she was trying real hard to get clean. I remember thinking this girl was special and I told the person that I was with that I bet she ends up traveling with us someday. She stayed in contact with us through email and Facebook. In November of 2008, she called me and told me that she was still interested in traveling with us and that she had been clean for five months. Then she said, “Oh by the way I was just on American Idol. I made it to Hollywood, but then got off after a couple rounds in. They filmed it in the fall, but it will air in January.” If you watch American Idol then you probably saw her on the show. They did a back story on her because she was such an inspiration to the producers. Her parents both died before she was fifteen years old.

After Rose got off the show, she was contacted by several people to be involved with various projects. She has refused any offers and is bent on traveling with R5 Productions because in her words, “It was you guys that gave me the inspiration to walk away from drugs and to go after my dreams in the first place.”

This is where you come in. Help Rose Bloom is a campaign that we are starting to help this young lady truly follow her dream and not get swallowed up by people that would try and use her and her talents for selfish gain. There are a lot of predators out there that are experts at spotting people like Rose and exploiting them. Rose has expressed to me that she really wants to use her talents to help young people around the country that have similar pasts as she does. When Rose made it to Hollywood, Simon said, “I don’t know what it is but there is something special about you.” I don’t find myself agreeing with this man much, but I think he saw what everyone sees when you spend five minutes around this girl. A young lady destined to make a difference in this world!

R5 Productions is dedicated to investing in Rose to see that her story gets out there in a way that is classy and effective. I have seen first hand how this young lady draws a crowd when she speaks or sings. It is amazing. We would like to provide her: book deals, recording time, housing, and travel costs. She came to us with nothing. We got her a car, a place to stay and are providing her with some spending money. I am asking you to help us help Rose. Your tax deductible donation to HRB will assure that she comes out of the gate strong and assures that she has a fighting chance to see her life truly blossom. We don’t usually do stuff like this, but we feel like there is no greater investment then investing in the lives of young people that truly want to succeed no matter what their past is like. Thank you for reading this and thank you for considering helping us to Help Rose Bloom.

Please make checks payable to R5 Productions (HRB in the memo) and send to 15424 Hickory St. Omaha, NE 68144.
